Healing the World – Make a Jizo Statue
We’re making a Jizo garden to heal the world…come join us!
Artist Susan Spencer will be our guide
When Buddha was dying, he lamented that beings were still suffering in the world. Jizo Bodhisattva said, “Do not worry, World Honored One. I vow that as long as beings are still suffering, I will remain to help them.”
Open Zen Community is creating a Jizo garden to use for healing ceremony for suffering beings. You can help…and have a lot of fun making a clay figure of Jizo Bodhisattva for the garden.
Mark your calendar: Saturdays Jan 10 and 24th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (approx). We will carpool to Sebastopol from San Mateo.
We will create our statues on 1/10, then glaze on 1/24. Cost is sliding scale for materials only — $20 to $35 per class. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, just let Beata know.
Bring some simple food to share. Please RSVP using the contact form
Children are welcome to participate!
